Electro mobility – from concepts to practice
Climate change, resources runing short, rising fuel prices – energy-efficient electric mobility becomes increasingly more attractive. If the electricity can be provided by renewable energy, electric cars offer an environment-friendly alternative to conventional vehicles with internal combustion engines.
Nevertheless, this technology is still accompanied by some determining questions:
* Which are the application areas of electric cars during the coming years?
* How do they perform in practice (achievement, user's friendliness, reach, costs)?
* How sustainable are electric cars with regard to their whole life cycle?
* How do storage technologies develop (reach, raw material availability, environmental compatibility)?
Well-chosen experts discussed this and other questions against the background of research and practise on the 16th of November 2011 at Basel. On the same occasion two electric cars Peugeot iOn of the project EmobilitätBasel were showed and could be test-driven.
