2000 watts – this is how much people need on a worldwide average. These energy needs constitute a global target figure. In 1960 Switzerland was a 2000-watt society – it should become one again as quickly as possible, without any restriction in quality of life. This can be achieved with a higher degree of material and energy efficiency, new corporate concepts and fields of business in all economic sectors.
Novatlantis is already putting the 2000-watt society into practice today in an exemplary fashion. However, in addition to the implementation of research results, a dialogue with political and economic decision makers is of decisive importance. At the beginning of 2005, Novatlantis published a brochure entitled "Smarter living: The 2000-watt society". A new understanding of our resources as a key to sustainable development will be fostered by pointing out the vision of the 2000-watt society and displaying its implementation.
